Strategy #1:

Simple in concept, harder in execution. Use R button speed boost judiciously, slow down when you need to. Go offroad when you can, stay to the centerline when you must be on the road. Start by using the desert to the right, come back to the road to get across the bridge. Then go cross desert to use thehanger shortcut through the mountain. If you R button boost just right coming out ofthe hanger you can overshoot the road and ride the cliffside the rest of the way, handily avoiding cars and enabling more R button boosting.
