Strategy #1:
Grab a light pole, I think they give you a faster swing than trees. With some of the larger robots forms (mostly the choppers) you can hit A twice to get a swing plus a backswing, which is a plus for this type of mission. Vehicles are worth more points than objects, so concentrate on them. Stand close to the cars when you attack them, they are often not killed with one hit. If you are close enough the backswing will finish them off, otherwise they will bounce away and you will have to chase after them to finish the job. You start out facing north. The two convenient vehicle spawn points here are on the street to the south sending out northbound cars and the street to the west sending out cars that will turn and go south. The spawn points work best when they are off screen. It is a simple matter of alternating between the cars coming from the two spawn points. If you miss one, that spawn point will not activate again until the car has driven out of sight.
Strategy #2:
The prison bus is my vehicle/bot of choice for drone missions and melee missions (although I use a flying vehicle for one particular melee mission). The prison bus has high energy levels that don't deplete too quickly in bot form when firing it's primary weapon.
Strategy #3:
The camera is your ally. By twisting it, the game cleverly respawns cars behind what you see, so rotate your camera to where it can't see, and 90% of the time, there's a car. (I could explain this more from a programming standpoint, but that's lame. We're gamers.) Anyway; use a tiny car like the speedster, and run up to the side of a car and smack it. These cars, when transformed, have this kind of round swing, followed by a vertical smash-through sort of attack, so when you do your first attack, rotate a little bit to the right, and smash the car from the front or back! The combos become a lot more effective this way, since the car won't slide out of reach. Sure you can do better than me, but I'm just kind of poking at it, so give it a shot, and do what you can!
Ok, I've redone my methods, and I think this is better. Instead of aiming directly at the side of the car on the first swing, run almost beyond the car, and hit it as it's directly at 3 o'clock on your side. For the followthrough, turn to face it and plant that traffic light right through the hood. This speeds up the pace significantly!
